I. M. A. Installation Of Officers Service Draws On Its Renewed Commitment to Serve

February 4, 2017

The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance once again shows that it’s mission to serve does not and will not change regardless of the faces or the time. On Sunday, January 22, 2017, many gathered to witness those who had been elected to steer the ship that runs on dedication that is needed in an effort to engage, impact, and empower churches and individuals to raise the bar, from the pulpit of the churches.

Several leaders, pastors, officials, and members of congregations attended to witness the installation of newly, as well as returning Officers of the I. M. A. who will serve for at least a term or another term, which by their bylaws will be 3 years.

The service was officiated by Pastor Robert Birt, of the Glass City Church of Christ and the Scriptures were done by Pastor Shirley Sparks of Walls Memorial AME Church and Pastor Rick Morris of Hope of Glory Ministries. The Invocation was given by Pastor Donald Perryman of the Center of Hope Church and the Statement of Purpose was led by Pastor Lee Williams of the Searchlite Community Church. Pastor Jerry Boose of Second Baptist Church introduced the Guest Speaker for the hour, who was Pastor Tim Pettaway from Walk The Word Ministries. The Installation of Officers and the Charge was conducted by Bishop Robert Culp of First Church of God and Pastor David Aber, of Collingwood Presbyterian Church.

When asked about New initiatives for the I. M. A. during this new year, President Brock shared  that several things are being planned. Some are: to provide Bibles to Cub Scouts, Hospice Centers across the city, and to prepare for a national effort regarding dialogue with Muslims, Christians, Jews, whereby the goal will be to show that there is a strong commitment to standing together with all, regardless of race or religion. Several other new items are in the agenda for the year where the I. M. A. will collaborate with other groups to move a very progressive agenda forward.

Plans are being made to have their annual Black History Program that will be held at St. Mark Baptist Church, where Pastor I. J. Johnson leads as one of the eldest statesman in the community. The annual conference in May will be held at First Church of God. Several intended partnerships are planned for this year, as President Brock explained.

One of the President Brock’s more impressive initiative is that of the School College Pipeline Program, where his goal is to aggressively work hard to circumvent the “prison” doors for “college” doors. He states that reaching young men and ladies earlier is the goal.

From the looks of it, President Brock has a definitive approach to making this year a forward one, achieving every goal that he has set for the I. M. A. Congratulations to the newly elected Officers for the next term in which they will be serving. God bless you!
