City of Zion: We're Loud and Proud of LOVING ON OUR COMMUNITY DAY!
A day of busy, relax, up for grabs, and by any means necessary, seems to have resonated at every level when you entered the campus at C. O. Z. ( City of Zion). Saturday, June 10th was a day to celebrate the achievements of a church and a neighborhood. The neighbors came out, the streets were blocked off, and the music was ramped up, all for the sake of being unified on this day to show LOVE.
Pastor Talmadge Thomas and the family at C. O. Z. for many years now, has had this great idea to just sit back, relax, and eat up. The grill was steaming, readying the meat for the hungry mouths that seemingly surrounded it, awaiting the sauce so that the cook for the day who was rhythmically swinging and slinging not missing a beat, could satisfy the taste buds of the attendees.
As the day progressed, the crowd grew bigger and the children excitedly made their way to the giant inflatable that kept them occupied throughout the day. The aroma of fellowship was evident as people walked the beat and showed relevant signs of "getting to know you" easily. You could see groups of people conversing, smiling, gesturing with hugs and hand shakes that served to create a friendly way to enjoy a day.
Getting to know your neighbor seemingly was the theme of the Community, Love on you, give back event hosted by C. O. Z. and Overseer Talmadge Thomas. He vows to welcome the community to the world of C. O. Z. This event seemed to have achieved its purpose. Before the end of the day, the lot was filled with Bikers who flaunted their beautiful BIKES, parading proudly their attire that certainly revealed the unity amongst them. They are known as Satan's Sidekick, who came as far away as Michigan to join in with the festivities.
C. O. Z. as described by Overseer Talmadge, is " A PLACE OF GRACE" , where you can be yourself and be welcomed to come to Christ in a non-judgmental way. He invites all to come and experience the love at C.O.Z. As a way to meet the needs of all, Pastor says that they have something to offer all. Sunday mornings start as early as 8 AM for their EXPRESS SUNDAY and then at 10:30 - 12:00 noon. Wednesday at 6:00 - 7: 30 PM the C.O.Z. Academy takes place, as it is age appropriate instruction for the youth and Young adults and at 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM the Family Study takes place. We celebrate Overseer Talmadge Thomas and C. O. Z. in this family, fun filled event who shared it with neighbors and community. May God richly bless you as you seek to do his will.
